Platform bed plans are widely misunderstood. A platform bed, like a futon bed, has no box spring. Rather, a platform bed is a bed in which the mattress is placed directly on the platform. The platform can be made out of wood or metal.

Sometimes, drawers are built in below the bed, or at other times, there is
simply storage space beneath the bed.

are often considered contemporary furniture. They contrast with traditional and
fanciful beds such as those with posts, drapes, etc. Conversely, platform beds
are a bit minimal-istic. They are simple and elegant, simply consisting of the
platform bed and the mattress.
The components of a platform bed include the headboard, the platform (the flat
piece that goes beneath the mattress) and the legs. The legs can either consist
of four pegs at each corner, or, as is often the case, there are no legs, but full
sheets of wood or metal the extend from the platform to the ground.
Platform bed plans are typically used to build a platform bed. Such beds are
typically constructed of wood, as most individuals do not have the tools to
construct them out of metal, aluminum, etc.
When constructing a platform bed from scratch, or even putting one together that
has been purchased from a retail store or online, it is recommended to have two
people. It’s not that platform beds are that heavy, but that they are often a
bit bulky and the extra hands are both safer and more convenient.
Platform beds are exciting since they are functional and exciting. Virtually
every time I see a movie or television show in which the characters live in an
upscale house, they have a platform bed.
